We were having a family conversation at breakfast this morning...somehow the conversation turned to janitors...Hannah had mentioned that the school janitor was coming around spraying down all the doorknobs (I said they don't like to be called janitors, they're "custodians").
Scott mentioned a group called the "Jamitors" that used to be at Disney - they were a percussion group that played all types of garbage cans and were really great. I mentioned that I'd been to Disneyworld 3 times and have never seen them. The kids asked when I'd been....so I said once in 1995 (with the Danbury Drum Corps) and then Scott and I went on our honeymoon, and we took Hannah when she was just over 2 (but got sick with Roseola and we had to cut our trip short).
Scotty took it all in and asked if HE had been there yet...and we told him no, he wasn't born yet. The conversation went elsewhere...then Scotty came out with, "I wish I had been in space with you at Disney."
Huh?
"Did you have fun on the rocket?" Scotty then asked.
again...HUH?
"you know...when you took a rocket to the honey MOON...."
Nothing like a good belly laugh at 7:30 in the morning.
THIS is why we eat as a family...for moments like this!

Altered Art
I've been quite remiss in posting layouts on a regular basis...so I thought I'd share a bunch of work I did. This is all altered art.
JOY
Most recently was this cute little number. I bought wooden letters and covered them with Basic Grey "Blitzen" paper. I embellished with all sorts of Christmas embellies I had in stock. I put rub-ons everywhere. My biggest issue was that the letters were not flat on the bottom, so I had to saw off, and then sand a bit. I painted the edges as well.

MAGAZINE HOLDER
This is an altered magazine box. It's actually a used Priority Mail box from the USPS. I tore up cardstock pieces and then used Modpodge to adhere it all on. I then took rub-ons related to scrapbooking and put them on. Simple, easy, and a way to recycle boxes!!!

LOVE CAN
This was an altered paint can I did. I used Basic Grey cardstock (can't remember the line, now), tags, and monogram letters. I used rub-ons in a "love" theme on the lid as well. I then added fibers to the handle, filled it with candles, scented lotions, Dove chocolates and hershey kisses. It was a prize for a raffle.

DAD CLOCK
This was a project for the design team I belonged to. I found really cheap clocks on clearance after Christmas. I used coordinating cardstock and accents (BoBunny Press, I believe). I added ribbon to separate the sections, and painted the edges. I thought my husband would like it, but he's not too keen on it. Anyone want it?

Friends

I created this layout to talk about my friend Barbara. I can't honestly tell you where most of the stuff comes from. I think the photo corners were K&C0, I know the vellum is DCWV, but the rest is lost to me. That's what happens when you collect too much and take everything out of the original packaging, and then don't write on the back of the layout!
Scotty's First Haircut

My most recent layout to date. Slide mount by Keller's Creations. Paper is Basic Grey from the "Oh, Boy" collection (thanks Suzanne!) All paint (on mount, pictures, stamped "S", and grid) is Making Memories - Daquiri, Blueberry, and Lagoon). Letter stamp by Making Memories Foam stamps. Rub ons (hair cut) by American Crafts. Ribbon by American crafts, color brads (sprinklez) and Hook-upz by Queen & Co. "1" by Basic Grey (Undressed monograms - I used the letter L as a 1). Screw brads by Making Memories. Provo Craft rolling stamp used for journalling...did I miss anything?
Oh yeah, the grid comes from Hannah's memory game! I punched out the cards, kept the grid, sanded it down and painted it!
Happy Fall, Y'all

Created this title bar at a crop in a class. Slide mount, photo tag, slide spot all from Keller's Creations. Paper unknown.
Hunting at "Eggle's" Landing

The title is a play on the words Eagle's Landing, which is the name of the church where the Easter Egg hunt was held. Hannah couldn't walk, she just stood or crawled. The letters were done with Sizzix dies at a crop. The background paper is unknown. Small egg punch used for the eggs. One of my earlier layouts, so it's pretyt plain and simple...was just learning the paper tearing technique!

Cutie Patootie/Daughter

I created 2 similar layouts. They are meant to be facing pages in an album (if I ever get them mounted).
Paper is DCWV (fresh berries), buttons are SEI, vellum tag is Keller's Creations. I don't remember who did the transparency. brads, curly paper clip and metal "boy" and "Smile" are Making Memories. Rub on words and phrase are unknown.

For Daughter - Paper is DCWV (fresh berries) and a miscellaneous paper (from Ms. Elizabeth's, I think). Buttons from SEI, metal "Love" and "Joy" and worded ribbon (on left) are Making Memories. Twill (on right) is Twill-de-dee, and words are stamped with CTMH stamps and SU black ink. Tranparency is unknown.

whoa...I scrapped tonight!
And I did 5 pages in 2 hours...yes, for me, that's a huge accomplishment. Okay...here's the scoop. I'm scrapbooking for my downstairs neighbor. She brought up a cute K&Co album and pictures. Printed on regular paper (eeek!), and she had printed all these things in WordArt. I proceeded to have her sort some of the pictures out and we started them.
This is not my style. I like to embellish a bit more and have fun with color...but she hasn't provided me with anything, so I'm using the stuff I'm not wild about in my stash - things that I've acquired through swaps, pass-ons and "bargains I just couldn't live without"...but now can.
So, without further ado, here is the work I created tonight.

I didn't bother to scan and stitch, I just took digital pictures of these. I am trying to get all her pictures into an album as quickly as I can, since they are probably packing out to leave soon.
I am actually pleased with the look of the layouts: clean, simple, quick. I think my favorite is the 2 page Louvre layout though.
Opinions?
